We aimed to investigate the collective imagination of college students about Africa in the context of research on the phenomenon of african - ancestry. We conducted a collective enterview with 20 students of Physical Education, from a procedure called "narrative imagination", which is the invitation to think about a situation, as suggested by the researcher, who asks free association writing. In this case, we suggest that you imagine a trip to Africa. Considered bringing in the light of the psychoanalytic method, the interpretive writings enabled the production of two fields of meaning or emotional-affective unconscious on: "African Mirror" and "forgotten and unknown". We note that the group shows a complex and ambiguous imagery on the African continent, where they mix contrasting visions of material misery, joy of life and feelings of strangeness. We could not find placements arrogant or judgmental.
