The research consists in doing workshops with music that will empower afro descendants teenagers who live in the outskirts of São Paulo City with critical judgment against the "harassment" of the cultural industry that will, with the boosting of musical creation, allow the acquiring of an emancipated consciousness that will enable them to change their reality. The musical styles used will be rap, the minimalist and dodecaphonic music, and they will promote ruptures in the musical preferences inducted by the mass media and will stimulate free improvisation and the creation of rap that will embrace themes related to social exclusion and social inequality originated from ethic and racial prejudice. The field research takes place in the NGO Casa do Zezinho, in Capão Redondo, São Paulo, where it is developed free improvisation workshop with instruments of percussion, mainly Afro and Brazilian Native ones.
