RESUMO

Tendo como referencia a pertença a um grupo religioso e/ou grupo coeso em seus valores e normas (a uma "moral community"), o artigo indaga sobre o potencial preventivo da participação dos jovens em atividades religiosas. Encontramos algumas respostas sobre as razões desse potencial dentro de dois filões de pesquisa sociológica: o filão ligado ao estudo dos comportamentos associais e o ligado às teorias das necessidades humanas. Identifica, finalmente, três fenômenos religiosos e educativos considerados, em geral, de grande importância na articulação de metodologias sociopedagógicas: a emergência das necessidades existenciais, de sentido e de transcendência; a construção de projetos de vida como capaz de gerar motivações profundas; a função preventiva das comunidades educativas. Esses fenômenos educativos e religiosos tendem a prevenir a evolução de comportamentos associais e delinquenciais.

ABSTRACT

With reference to membership of a religious group and / or cohesive group in their values and standards (a "moral community"), the article inquires about the preventive potential of youth participation in religious activities. We found some answers on why this potential in two loaves of sociological research: the lode on the study of asocial behavior and linked to theories of human needs. Identifies, finally, three religious and educational three phenomena considered, in general, of great importance in the articulation of socioeducational methodologies: the emergence of existential needs, meaning and transcendence, the construction of life projects capable of generating such deep motivations, the function preventive educational communities. These educational and religious phenomena tend to prevent the development of asocial behavior and delinquency.
